Childhood Dreams

I can sense that things aren’t going
The way I always dreamed they’d go
I don’t own a great big mansion
Where I watch my children grow

I don’t see the Paparazzi
Climbing up my tree
Trying to find the perfect vantage
For the perfect photograph of me

But that don’t mean that I’m not happy
My destiny’s beyond control
And that don’t mean that I’m not laughing
My broken dreams they’re good as gold
Good as gold

Well I’m never gonna play for Liverpool
Never gonna win the English league
And I’m never gonna find a treasure
At the bottom of the sea

And I’m never gonna fly a rocket ship
Out beyond the moon
And I’m never gonna shoot the pipeline
On the north shore of Oahu

But that don’t mean that I’m not laughing
My destiny’s beyond control
And that don’t mean that I’m not happy
My broken dreams they’re good as gold
Good as gold

Broken dreams just mean that things
Are different than I once believed they’d be
They mean I’m on a different road
Broken dreams just keep me reaching
For a destiny that’s unforseen
I shake the dice and I let ’em roll
Let ’em roll

And if they never do come true
All my broken childhood dreams
Might still come to some use
And inspire me to sing

Well I may never fly that rocket ship
But through music I’ll grow wings
And you can always find me dancing
On my broken childhood dreams
You can always find me dancing
On my broken childhood dreams

Childhood dreams
Childhood dreams
Childhood dreams
They make us stronger
They make us who
We end up being
So dare to dream
